System for Uniform Traffic Accident Location (INFOBESI and UIDN Projects)
The projects' intent is to help increase road traffic safety in the Czech Republic using anti-accident actions. These should be applied in places with high accident rate.
The system includes three major components:
- The first component is installed in Police cars (traffic accident unit) and provides uniform location of traffic accidents on the entire Czech Republic area including detailed accident data. The Police performs accident location using GPS devices directly during the on-place investigation. Accident place coordinates are then entered into the system. Software locates the place in the map and provides further data for exact accident location.
- The second component of the system validates the accident location data and lists high accident rate places within the road network of the Czech Republic. It allows for miscellaneous traffic analyses (relative accident rate, financial loss analysis and so on). The system then suggests suitable action to be taken to reduce number of accidents on that particular place of interest. Also, it provides feedback on financial return/effectivity of the anti-accident actions.
- The third component provides tools for accident data publishing. The information presented may include traffic accident locations, high accident rate localities, and anti-accident actions. The audience includes public, integrated rescue system, municipal offices and so on.
Submitter: Department of Transport, participants include VARS and Traffic Research Center.
